Recording The Birth Of Your Song
By Ed Melendez I am often asked where I generate original ideas for songs....
Counter Clockwise
Released November 2012. Velvet Symphony is the brainchild of composer Ed Melendez. Primarily a songwriter and keyboardist, Ed has long been a fan of early progressive rock bands such as Yes, Genesis, Styx, Kansas, The Moody Blues, and neo-progressive rock groups like: Marillion, Saga, Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree.
Killion Finch
Produced in 2006 under the stage name, Killion Finch. Ed Melendez crafted the music for his second solo album, "Songs of a Lonely Fragile" to showcase his skills not only as an accomplished songwriter, but also as a producer, arranger and instrumentalist. This album would be the vehicle that showcase all of those talents.
New Day Revisited
In 2008 Ed had been looking for a project to wet his chops on. After exploring a number of interesting options, Ed decided to go all the way back to his roots and uncover some inspiration from 1989.
Ed had been sorting through old audio tapes from his "Idea Box", and found the "New Day" demo recording from "1989".
